Some times
as I watch the news
My heart
begins to sink,
The storms,
the fires, the violence
Keep humans
on the brink.
No day goes
by without the word
Of danger
all around,
Of shootings,
drugs and craziness -
No safe
place can be found.
You’d think
that after all these years
We’d learn a
way to live
That met the
basic needs of all
Where hope
was what we’d give.
Each one
would have enough to eat,
A shelter
for the night,
A place to
learn, a dream to keep,
The gift of inward
light.
No guns to shoot
the other guy.
No bombs to
kill and maim.
No fears to
break the still of night
Where each
one was the same
Within the
eyes of God’s true law
No walls to
keep apart.
And where
the world was full of grace
Residing in
each heart.
“A foolish
dream” the realists cry,
It hasn’t
got a chance.
But deep
within the heart of God,
We find the
call to dance.
To hear the
music of the spheres,
A rhythm of
the soul,
A promise of
unending love,
A gift to
make us whole.
A garden of
God’s pure delight
Where we can
all release
The fears
and tears that threaten life,
And rest
in Kingdom’s…
Peace,
Alex
