The world is in a sorry
shape
With wars, and floods and
storms,
One might expect a change
in things -
Instead we see these
norms.
With neighbor killing
neighbor,
And drug deals going bad,
With hi-jackings and terrorists,
I have to think it’s sad
To know that after
centuries
We humans have not grown
Instead we seem to reap the
pain
From all the seeds we’ve
sown.
Why don’t we learn that
violence
Is not the way to go?
That eye for eye and tooth
for tooth
Is just a way so slow
That keeps the anger
growing,
That lets hate overflow
Until the world is in this
mess
As we so easily know.
The problem is we do not
trust
The people at our door,
So trying to accept the
folk
From far hurts even more.
But we forget that there’s
a bond
That links us one to one,
From when the chaos ruled
the dark,
When creation was begun.
God set the way to peace, you see,
When making you and me,
A plan that called for
sharing love
As we were meant to be.
And if we really want to
change,
Our fighting then to
cease,
We need to put our trust
in God,
And seek the road to…
Peace,
Alex
